Programs

Opportunity House offers residents a new beginning that starts with the basics: a safe, clean place to live, hope, encouragement, and an address. Opportunity House is so much more than just a shelter. We are a beacon of hope, guiding the pathway from homelessness to homeownership. This is breaking the generational cycle of poverty, homelessness, and substance use. This is breaking the chains.

Our programs tap into three key factors for success: Desire, Opportunity, and Perseverance. Through outreach, we plant the seeds of hope to grow the desire for change in individuals and our community. Through shelter, we provide the opportunity for healing, change, and growth. Through our programs, we teach the perseverance needed to overcome any obstacles you may encounter on your journey from homelessness to homeownership.

Street Outreach

In partnership with the Vacaville Police Department's Community Response Unit our outreach specialists and case managers build relationships with our unhoused community, triaging needs and making referrals to resources. We provide showers, lunches, and basic necessities to any community member in need while they navigate their housing crisis.
Youth Outreach

We have outreach services specifically for youth at local Vacaville high schools, in partnership with Vacaville Unified School District and Solano County Office of Education. We provide wellness centers for high schoolers, creating safe spaces to raise awareness and offer support around mental health, substance use, and homelessness. Our youth case manager works directly with homeless teens, supporting them through the various obstacles they encounter while trying to complete their education and create a better future for themselves.
My Friend's House

Many of our homeless teens in high schools come to live at My Friend’s House, a program Opportunity House started in 2021 with support from the Solano County Board of Supervisors. My Friend’s House is a Transitional Age Youth Emergency and Transitional Shelter. To date, My Friend’s House has helped over 60 young adults (aged 18-24) find reprieve from homelessness and access supportive services and permanent housing.
Opportunity House Shelter

Our flagship program, founded in 1995, provides life-changing opportunities for nearly 100 residents yearly. We offer structured support through individualized case plans, including financial literacy, life skills, employment and education opportunities, parenting classes, and housing navigation assistance. Residents build trust with dedicated case managers to help set and achieve personal goals, save money, and rebuild their lives.
After-Reach and Rapid Re-Housing

These programs provide wrap-around support services to recently homeless individuals during their transition from homelessness to permanent housing. We continue to assist our residents after they secure housing, helping them build healthy support networks, enhance their employment and education opportunities, and sustain their housing. The goal of these programs is to prevent the recurrence of homelessness.
Resource Programs

Our Resource Programs provide free, additional support to Solano County residents. Through these supplemental programs, we are able to provide immediate relief in the areas of hunger, hygiene, and support.
